Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Lehra Mohabbat has won the meritorious performance award for 2012-13 for its excellent performance & Certificate of Merit for FY 2013-14 in the category of ‘Performance of Thermal Power Stations’. The awards were presented by Hon’ble Minister of State for Power in functions organized by Ministry of Power at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Both the above awards fall in my tenure as Chief Engineer/O&M, GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat.

2. The HP Turbine Module replacement and capital maintenance of GHTP Unit-2 has been completed in 30.58 days in November/December, 2012 against approved shut down of 40 days thereby bringing the unit 9.42days ahead of schedule which has resulted into an extra availability of 475 LUs.

3. The annual maintenance of Unit-4 has been completed in 14.69 days in May-2013 against approved shut down of 20 days thereby bringing the unit 5.31 days ahead of schedule which has resulted into an extra availability of 318 Lac Units.

4. One stage of impellers of condensate Extraction Pumps (one each) has been removed in all units of GHTP resulting in reduction of around 10-12 amperes of 6.6KV of current for each running CEP corresponds to savings of 10200 units (KWH) per day.

5. Impellers of Circulating Water Pumps of Unit-1 have been replaced with modified & efficient impellers resulting in reduction of around 12 amperes of current on 6.6KV for each running circulating water pump corresponds to savings of 5600 units (KWH) per day.

6. Maintenance contract costs have been optimized a lot during my tenure at GHTP. Maintenance contract costs increased from Rs. 27.49 Crores in 2012-13 to Rs. 32.83 Crores in 2016-17 which is just 19.43% increase against labour wage increase of around 75% during this period.

7. Plant Availability Factor of GHTP always remained more than 90% during my tenure. Units were kept ready and made available to PSPCL in minimum time as per requirement of Chief Engineer/Power Purchase & Regulation.

8. GHTP team was motivated to carry out innovations. All the quality circles formed at GHTP demonstrated their innovations at National Conventions on Quality Concepts (NCQC) and won 3 excellence and three No. par excellence awards during my tenure at GHTP.

9. Monnet Daniel Coal washery, the first washery on build own operate (BOO) basis in India, was successfully commissioned in October, 2009 by pursuing vigorously during my tenure as OSD/Coal Management.

10. Awarded with letter of appreciation as Sr. Executive Engineer/Boiler Maintenance Cell-I by General Manager/O&M, GGSSTP, Ropar in November, 2004 for replacement of Air-preheater support bearing of Unit-VI in record time

viii) take all actions and decisions concerning allocation/allotment of coal block to PSPCL up to receipt of regular supply of coal from this allocated / allotted coal block.
