With an objective to provide reliable quality of power to the esteemed consumers of the state, Punjab State Power Corporation limited has augmented 10 new 66 Kv sub stations in last one and a half months.
A spokesman said that in some areas where feeders are too long or over loaded affecting the quality of supply to the consumers. PSPCL has taken a serious note of the issue and directions have been issued to complete the task of new sub station on war footing. It would also improve the voltage of the concerned areas too. During month of August 2019, corporation has dedicated five new sub stations to the people of the Punjab.
PSPCL has spent about Rs 20 crores on these sub stations which include the historic town of Sultanpur Lodhi, Urban Estate Gurdaspur, Village Lohgarh (Moga), All India Medical Institute, Bathinda and the Sanauri Adda of Patiala city.
Besides this, the capacity of the 7 more sub-stations in the state has been upgraded, so that no emergency power cut has to be imposed during the peak summer due to the lack of capacity for power houses in these areas. The existing 12.5 MVA power transformer capacity of 66 kV Sub Station Dasuya, Sham Chaurasi (Hoshiarpur) Badshahpur (Patiala), Rurka Kalan (Jalandhar) Jandiali (Samrala), Matti (Bathinda), Chena (Bathinda) Sub-stations have been upgraded to 20 MVA. . Another transformer has been installed at Dasaundha Singh Wala (Barnala) sub-station.
In order to regulate the voltage system at the power houses capacitor bank will be installed, and as and where required, new capacitor bank will be set up in the next 2 months. Recently in September, 66 kV sub station Attowal (Hoshiarpur) has been augmented by replacing 12.5 MVA power TF with 20MVA Transformer, Dharampura augmented by replacing 8 MVA transformer with 20MVA and Mubarakpur(Patiala) augmented by replacing 20MVA transformer with 31.5 MVA capacity. Secondly, New 66 kV Substation Vihla Teja(Gurdaspur) and Additional 10-12.5 MVA Transformers have been installed at 66 kV Substations at Rode (Faridkot) and Banwala Anuka (Mukarsar). In all about Rs 30 Crore have been spent by PSPCL on new above new substations and Augmentations of existing ones.
