Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has once again topped at All India level among all the Power Utilities of the nation under digital transaction’s segment. This was disclosed by Er. Baldev Singh Sran CMD PSPCL, in a press release here today. This achievement has been uploaded by the Ministry of Power, Government of India on its URJA Portal.
CMD Er. Sran said that it is a moment of pride for the people of Punjab, as 8 towns of the state are amongst the list of top 25 towns of the nation in digital category (total 1405 towns at All India level were rated in this trait). CMD expressed such an attainment in digital category becomes more noteworthy, when Punjab is customarily considered as an agrarian state. PSPCL has achieved this land mark with the full support of its valuable consumers.
CMD highly praised the fully evolved confidence of consumers in digital payments, due to which they have made PSPCL the number 1 utility in digital transactions. PSPCL collected record amount of around Rs.9150 Crores digitally during April to December, 2018 (its 47% of total collections). In December 2018, PSPCL collected around 60% digitally. It itself speaks a lot about the commitment of PSPCL about encouraging citizens to opt for digital modes.
Er. Sran is confident that with the guidance of Captain Amarinder Singh, CM, Punjab and support of S.Gurpreet Singh Kangar Power Minister, Punjab PSPCL would undoubtedly continue to accomplish more such laurels in future too, as we are coming out with more easy and new innovative products of bill payments like UPI, Bharat QR, Swipe machines etc. very soon.
It is worth stating here that on the eve of Independence Day 2018, PSPCL had launched a very ambitious and extensive drive of spreading awareness about various digital bill payment methods. On that occasion Er. Sran had appealed to consumers and employees of PSPCL to adopt digital payment techniques for electricity bills to save their precious time, cost and energy. The campaign has a big positive impact for the citizens and they are now free from long queues at cash counters. CMD said that earlier, citizens were not using digital platforms in such a huge manner, as was envisioned by Government of India. But, to encourage more & more citizens to move to digital modes happily and with least financial costs, PSPCL has undertaken dynamic innovations to provide consumers with cost effective and enhanced digital avenues and convenient to use digital modes of present day and made public continuously fully aware about these no cost modes.
While sharing the details about new, improved and easy digital bill payment modes like UMANG, BHIM, Paytm, BBPS channels like PhonePe, Just Dial, Google Pay, Amazon, M-Pesa, , Payzapp etc, Er.Sran said that PSPCL is committed to promote digital payments for the benefits of society. He said, citizens are saving huge direct and indirect costs due to digital modes, which were earlier being incurred in offline modes. To bring people from all walks of the society under the scope of digital transactions, PSPCL is making vigorous efforts by introducing new digital avenues and undertaking various wide ranging promotional campaigns like distribution of leaflets, banners, pole posters, radio, SMS, WhatsApp, E-mail and so on. He added that PSPCL is making all out efforts to make the consumers aware regarding digital bill payment modes, digital transaction charges and offers (like cash back, pay & win schemes & no transaction charges etc.), that are being strategically negotiated specially for our valuable consumers with various payment apps regularly.
He also added that to resolve the consumers’ concerns and to make trouble free digital payment system, PSPCL is regularly interacting with the consumers and they are showing tremendous enthusiasm and confidence in digital payments.
