PSPCL’s move towards Digital India- Payment of Electricity Bills through Online Modes/RTGS
Taking a further move towards encouraging digitization for the facilitation and relief to consumers in State, PSPCL took the initiative and partnered with State Bank of India, the largest bank in India, regarding collection of electricity bills through RTGS mode.
While disclosing about the scheme Er.Baldev Singh Sran CMD said that the PSPCL has achieved another land mark and collected around whopping Rs.100 crores through Digital/RTGS modes on July 13,2018 (13.07.2018,) which is a very remarkable collection through digital means in the history of Punjab State Power Corporation and may be one of the largest at all India level for a single day digital collection by any power utility .
Er. Sran added that it has been made mandatory for the bills exceeding 3 Lakhs to use online modes like net-banking, credit card, debit card, RTGS/ NEFT etc. For all other consumers, Digital/RTGS facility is optional. Under these new bill payment techniques, bill payment receipt is available online at PSPCL website. Payment records will always remain there on online server and bill receipt could be downloaded at any time. There is no need for consumers to visit PSPCL offices for intimation of bill payments via Digital/RTGS modes.
Er.Baldev Singh Sran said that this is a big step towards making the things easy for the consumers of industry, business, government departments, commercial establishments . He said that now electricity consumers in the State can easily pay their electricity bills at their convenience through any bank branch or their corporate banking site and thus can save their precious time from long queues at cash counters.CMD further said that this facility is available to all the consumers through non-challan based mode (including bulk RTGS).

Baldev Singh Sran, also added that “PSPCL has provided various facilities of digital payments like Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, Paytm, RTGS, BBPS etc. PSPCL will make all out efforts to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the business, industry and all the consumers by undertaking various such digital initiatives. Our valuable electricity consumers will continue to get a further range of new and quick alternatives of bill payments in future too, which would definitely give them an enriched, rapid, smooth and trouble-free experience of bill payment”
Sh. Jatinder Goyal Director Finance said, “PSPCL is entirely committed to use IT know-how for making the systems simple and effort-less for consumers and for making the big idea of ‘reform, perform and transform via technology’ a truth. We foresee that our consumers will find these new services very suitable and valuable.”He said the scheme is now being operational after its approval from Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC).
