Er. Sunil Kumar Puri has assumed the charge as new Director Generation of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited here today after the Punjab Government appointed him for a term of two years.
Er. Baldev Singh Sran CMD, Sh. R.P. Pandove Director Administration, Er. N.K .Sharma Director Distribution, Er. O.P. Garg Director Commercial, and Sh. Jatinder Goyal Director Finance were also present of the occasion and greeted, Er. S.K. Puri with bouquets of flowers and wishes. A large number of HODs and well wishers from all walks of life exchanged wishes with Er. Puri.
Er. S.K. Puri born on January 28, 1960 is a graduate in B.Sc. (Electrical Engg.) from PEC, Chandigarh. Er. Puri started his career in PSPCL erstwhile PSEB in 1982 as trainee engineer (Electrical ) and rose to the level of Engineer-in- Chief.
Er. S.K. Puri, known as Generation Expert , served PSPCL for more than 35 years, Out of 35 years, he contributed 34 years service in Generation field. He served on various key assignments i.e. OSD Coal Management and C.E./O&M, GHTP, Lehra Mohabat. He has worked as nominee Director of M/s PANEM (a joint venture of PSPCL and M/s EMTA for operating the captive coal block) from November 2009 to January 2018. He remained Chairman, Punjab Licensing Board from 2016 to January 2018. He remained in key management positions since 2008. From 2008 to 2012 as Officer on special duty (OSD) Coal Management, PSPCL, Patiala and from 2012 to January 2018 as General Manager/Chief Engineer / O&M, GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat.
While serving as Officer on Special Duty to Coal Management, he monitored and managed coal supplies to all three power plants in a professional manner. During his tenure as Chief Engineer/O&M, Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Lehra Mohabbat, the Plant has won the meritorious performance award for 2012-13 for its excellent performance & Certificate of Merit for FY 2013-14 in the category of ‘Performance of Thermal Power Stations’, Plant Availability Factor of GHTP has always remained more than 90% and resultantly saving of crores of rupees for PSPCL. Units were kept ready and made available to PSPCL in minimum time as per requirement of Chief Engineer/Power Purchase & Regulation. During his tenure as OSD Coal Management he was instrumental in commissioning Monnet Daniel Coal washery, the first washery on build own operate (BOO) basis in India.
