S. Gurbachan Singh Bachi was born in village Bhattiwal Khurd under Sangrur District on 10th April, 1956. After obtaining primary education from village school, Sardar Bachi did B.A. from Govt. Mahendra College, Patiala. Sardar Bachi started his career as a Student Leader and remained President of the student union of Mahendra College, Patiala in 1978. Sardar Bachi joined the Co-operative movement after completing his studies and ably held different positions in various co-operative Departments viz. Director of Punjab State Agricultural Development Bank Sangrur, Director Punjab State Co-operative Bank Sangrur, Director Markfed for a period of three years at each post. He has been working as the Chairman, Punjab State Co-operative Bank since 1998 and is also holding the position of Vice Chairman of All India Federation of Co-operative Banks. His hard work, sincerity, management skill and leadership quality has recently earned him the prestigious post of Administrative Member in the Punjab State Electricity Board, the charge of which was assumed by him on 19.11.2009. This is his second term as Administrative Member in Board. Earlier he remained on the post from 26.12.2001 to 25.12.2003. After unbundling of Punjab State Electricity Board, Punjab Govt. has re-appointed him as Director / Administration in newly created Punjab State Power Cooperation Ltd. (Powercom) on 03.06.2010, keeping in view the exemplary service rendered by him. |
